ASNOIS


The Asnoisiens and Asnoisiennes are 143 inhabitants. The commune, which extends over an area of ​​16.3 km, takes its name from Celta ana, “swamp”.

Cited under the name of Anéis in 1096, the town has kept some vestiges of the Gallo-Roman period including two mounds and the Roman road Périgueux-Poitiers. Many castles were built on the heights of the Charente river: Loche Castle, Beauregard Castle, Logis de Mont-Laurier, Chateau de Châteauneuf, Chateau de la Roche.
